The State of Minnesota was designated a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA).

The HIDTA designation ensures that the state will have access to increased resources to clamp down on the pipelines of illegal drugs. Federal funding will be concentrated on five counties in the twin cities metropolitan area РHennepin, Ramsey, Dakota, Anoka and Washington counties.

For Anoka County, the longtime struggle with methamphetamine will be a priority.
